Do I Smell Birthday Cake?

    Guess who's turning 1 today?

That's right, BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet turns 1 today. I can't believe it has been a year since I created this blog and started my posting about my favorite hobby. I am not going to go on about all the stuff I have done or talked about or cards I have found out in Blogoland because if you care to read about that stuff, it's all right here on the blog and you can read it anytime you want. All I will do is say thank you to all of you who take the time to read my ramblings about cards and other aspects of this great hobby. I thank all the great traders out there who have helped me take my collection to places I never thought It could go and I truly appreciate all of you that I have met through this past year who have made this blog more rewarding then I ever thought it would be. With that being said, I will give the gifts instead of getting them to celebrate this 1st birthday for my blog. I have 26 random cards pictured below that I will be giving away in groups of 5 cards. All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me what you like about this blog. It can be a specific post, a group of posts, the layout, or really anything that makes you want to read posts here. Sometime on Superbowl Sunday I will close the giveaway and random all the people who commented 5 times and the first 5 on the list will get to choose 5 cards from the lot in the order that there names appear on the random list. (Well the first 4 really and #5 will get what's left with the extra card since they won't get to pick.) Sounds easy enough to me. Here are the cards up for grabs.

09 Chris Carpenter ToppsTown Gold
09 Legends of the Game Jimmy Foxx
10 Dan Haren Topps Update Gold sn'd 1024/2010

That's all I have for now. Keep rockin those cardboard dreams people!

I like the look with the red type, but mostly I come back to read because the tone of your writing is always one of fun and enjoyment and that's cool.

Happy blog birthday! I like that both your blogs have led me to other bloggers that I've traded with. I also like any post that includes cards I've sent your way.

Congrats man! And now that you mention it I do love the look of your blog - nice setup!

I don't know if I should enter though...I always seem to win your contests haha and I want to give other people a choice.

Happy 1st Berfday there young Blogo-Pup!! What do I like about your blog? Everything that's been posted before my post for starters (I 2nd the motion to throw SpastikMooss out of the contest). I have found many an awesome blog from your hallowed pages here. I've completed my second baseball card trade ever, right from this very blog. Reading this blog has led me to start my own blog, and subsequently, keep going with same said blog. You are my first successfully surprise mailing, and helped me pull off a very successful surprise mailing with Spankee. To answer your first question, I like everything I see here. Variety can't be beat, as evidenced by your 1st "million pack" group break, as well as the many different packs you find for the Cafe. Thanks for the last 4 or 5 months, wish I could have been here since the start, but I am here now, good luck trying to get rid of me!!
(and I'm just kidding about SpastikMooss, I've won plenty of contests since discovering the great land o' the Blogs) Keep up the good blogging there Benny, I'll keep readin!!

Happy blogversary Benny...well I like many things about this blog (and it holds sentimental value to me, as it was one of the first I discovered and the first contest I ever won) but my absolute favorite thing about this blog are the long, multi-tangented posts.

I love that every time I start a Benny post I'm going to read about 6 different topics before I get to the end. Sometimes I read the RSS feeds to see if I'm going to read a blog post or not...but I don't do that with this blog, because the title and the picture is rarely any indication of what's actually going to be in the post.

Congratulations on your one year milestone.

I like our trades (though that's not exactly about the blog), the background design is cool, the videos are fun to watch, and your blog is well organized. Oh, and congrats on 100 followers!

Hopefully the blog will be here for a long time to come....

I love that you had the foresight to do a video blog in preparation for your group break to make sure everything was working. Great planning.

Hey! Happy Blog Birthday Benny! I like all the Mets cards you post, many of which have turned me on to new brands. I also like the little Met themed graphics that sometimes appear before the close of your posts. Thanks for all the trades over the past year!!!

Congrats on blogging for a year. I enjoy the smorgasbord of topics you talk about on your blog and I like that your next group break will have a variety of products included.
Cheers to your next year of blogging. I'm certain it will be great.

I could've sworn your blog was older than 1! You're blog was one of the first I signed up to follow. You always have fun posts to read and while I may not be a Mets fan I love your background wallpaper!

Your blog is only 1? Are you sure? That means my blog must be like 2 weeks old. Well, Happy Birthday! Anyway, I love the layout of your blog. Your Mets wallpaper inspired me to find a Cardinals background for my blog (or you could just say I stole your idea). But the coolest thing about your blog is the name. It is hands down, the best blog name I've ever seen. In fact, I would venture to say that if some independent third party conducted a poll for the coolest blog name on the internet, you would win by a landslide.

Happy birthday!

I love the flashing neon signs. I've loved it from the start. You've got to tell me how you do that.

Otherwise, you're so darn lovable for being a Mets/Yankees fan!

Congrats on the 1st year!! I'm a new reader and enjoy your takes on card world. I can't wait for my first break with you and the other members. Keep the good cards rolling. Other than being a New York fan you're alright in my book. Go Tribe!

Happy Blogday to you BA Benny!!! Today is a super day in bloggerland... Both BaBBCB and My Past Time I Love It! were born on the same day... 2 great BASEBALL card blogs born on Super Bowl week. Weird... I like trading with you obviously... I like that you have a diverse collecting interest. You are the only one I know who chases old team cards. I like the look of the blog. When I read it in the middle of the night it feels like I am popping into an all night diner to sit for hours and just buy a cup of coffee... Happy Blog Day! Congrats! Oh, don't put me in the contest, but those are some cool prizes! Oh, congrats also on hitting 100 followers!! Awesome!

Dawgbones said...

You know, the Troll has an excellent point. Your blog feels like an All-Night diner. Good products and inexpensive pricing, and it's open 24/7/365. You can't beat it!! and I thought of another name for your G.B. I'll now be calling it the Ragu Group Break @ Benny's. Cause if you're looking for variety, just like Ragu, It's In There!!

Congratulations on a year! I secretly like the Mets, so I appreciate seeing posts on Ike Davis and the rest of them.

night owl said...

I don't secretly like the Mets, but I do admire them a little bit -- a lot more than the Yankees. I also like how you have lots of Mets logos everywhere but not Yankees logos, so as to not offend us Yankee haters (or at least that's what I tell myself).

Community Gum said...

Congratulations on hitting 1! I love the variety I find here (and in the Rip Cafe). I love that you freely admit to collecting both Mets and Yankees even though most of the world would see that as blashemping something or other. Always an entertaining read, I'm looking forward to many to come!
