Card Of The Day: Manny's Got To Go!

Today I have a plea for someone out there to offer me a trade for today's Card of the Day. ANY Mets or Yankees please please please. ANY game used for this one. ANY player, ANY one on my list!

2006 Ultra Fine Fabrics Manny Ramirez gu jersey

All kidding aside I just am not a fan of Manny so I would really like to send this to a good home where he will be loved, or at least tolerated. I do give him his due. He is a great hitter and huge threat at the plate, however I just am not a fan of his "hijinks" or the Red Sox for that matter. Make me an offer, please.

Lets Play Two! Mailbox had 2 packages today.

Hey again Buffet readers. Today I have 2 nice trade packages to share with you.
First I have some cards from Rhubarb_Runner over at e rayhahn rayhahn. He is a Twins collector so we worked out a straight forward Twins for Mets trade.

The camera does no justice to the Olerud as it has some kind of refractive/holografic magic to it.

Here are just a few of the vintage he sent along. I now think I have to go for the 74 Topps Mets team set as he sent 18 of them.'
I must say a great package so I am stocking up some more Twins to see if we can trade again.

Next I have a package from Derek "Big D" over at Hey That's Mine. I commented on one of  his awesome custom cards and he said he would hook me up with one of his Mets ones.

What a great custom!!!

Even auto'd by the manfacturer. You don't get one of those every day.
Then going above and beyond he sent a nice little pile of Mets to go with it.
Some more Santanas to go with his beauty. There were several other players included as well but the second best behind the custom was .................

2009 Topps Ticket To Stardom Jose Reyes Ticket Stub 005/110

I recently did a box break of these but I didn't get any only stub cards so this is a big score for me. Even better a last year Shea Stadium vs the Yankees stub at that.
I owe you Big D as the cards I sent you don't hold up to these gems you sent me.

Busy Mail Box This Week. Trade Posts

Hey again all. I got some trade packages and an ebay package in the mail this week so I want to share the contents with you.

First I have a trade with Ed from Roll Out The Barrel. I sent him some Brewers stuff and was thrilled when a nice package of Mets stuff hit my mailbox.

07 Turkey Red Jose Reyes gu jersey
I knew this one was coming but the rest were a great selection of cards I didn't know any specific details about. I love when a surprise package delivers. I will show only a few of the great cards Ed sent as this post will be long enough.
09 Goodwin Champions Reyes
10 Topps Gold Carlos Delgado /2010
Always love the gold and I didn't do the Goodwin set so I don't have many of them.

04 Leaf Certified Materials Tom Glavin gu jersey 106/150
I really like the Certified Materials cards so this one is a big score.
This is a small taste of the great cards Ed sent and I hope to trade again with him.

Next up is a trade I had with Chris of On Card Autos. I had some Cubs game used he was interested in and these came in return.
06 UD Game Materials David Wright gu pants
03 UD Patch Collection Mike Piazza 1996 All-Star Game
07 Sweet Spot signatures Darrell Rasner auto 070/299
07 Bowman Heritage Dontrelle Willis gu jersey

Anything David Wright is great. The Piazza manfactured patch is one of the best I have seen from this set and he is one of my favorite players. The Rasner is my first Yankee Sweet Spot auto, I do have one from the Mets already. The Dontrelle is the 25th different gamed used I have of him. I can't believe as a Mets fan I collect thid guy but I guess watching him beat thge Mets for all those years while with florida I had to respect how great he was  back then. Chris also sent me a nice bag of assortrd Mets and Yanks cards to go wit these gems.

Moving on to a package, or I should say box from Tim over at Great Sports Name Hall Of Fame. He sent me an e-mail saying he had some Mets,Yanks and players I collect and asked if I was interested. I said sure and put together some stuff on his wanted lists and mailed out a package to him. He mentioned he had a game used for me as he read they were my favorite but wouldnt tell me so I would be surprised.
Surprise!
08 SPx Winning Materials Carlos Beltran gu jersey 031/125

Nice! I did not have this one.

As you can see Tim really hooked me up with all kinds of stuff. He hit my Mets, Yankees, several players, Saints, Giants and other stuff I collect.

Next up is a package from Chris OK from Budget Baseball Carding. I hade some 09 Topps Chromes he needed and a Wade Davis he wanted so I sent them with some other stuff I thought he may like and these arrived for me.
4 different Piazza's I didnt have. 2 are transparent and one is sn'd /1000.
Some othe goodies that were in a nice sized group of  Mets and Yanks he hooked me up with.

Finally I have an E-bay score to add.

07 Co-Signers Willie Collazo /500U
UD Finite Kareem Kelly auto 0877/1300
07 Elements Elemental Autographs Sean Henn

Another Willie Collazo for the collection, A Saints auto (Sorry, I forgot the year) and A new Yankee auto for the book.

03 Fleer Avant Aubrey Huff auto 029/300
07 Topps Sterling Jarrod Saltalamacchia auto

These 2 are up for trade.

There you have it for now.  I will be back with more trade stuff later.

2009 Topps Ticket To Stardom Box Break.

I picked up a box of 2009 Topps Ticket To Stardom on my last trip to the card shop last week. I didn't remember hearing too much about this set and only recall that I thought I may want to get some when I read a preview sheet before they came out. The shop had one on sale and I can't resist a bargain box so I grabbed it.
3 hits per box sounds good to me. 20 packs at 12 cards per is not bad either. Off we go!

Base cards. The base set consists of 200 cards (1-200) then 25 rookie cards sn'd to /199 (201-225).
Not bad looking. Enough silver foil on front to be sharp but not too much to take away from the player. A box around the player with team colors is good and the photos are well done. The backs have previous years stats and a "Star For A Day" write up of a specific game where the player excelled again in the team colors box.
I scored 197 of the 200 base (98.5%). I need 101 Granderson, 102 Hafner, and 139 Petitte. Oddly I got none of the rookie cards 201-225. Interestingly some of the card numbers match the player numbers. 5 for David Wright, 6 for Ryan Howard, and 13 for A-rod are 3 i noticed. I have to go through and see if there are any others.

Next the paralells.

Perforated Paralells come one in each pack. Same as base except top and bottom are crinkle cut like french fries. I got 20 of these.

Blue Parallel Sn'd /99.   I got 3 of these
Gold Parallel Sn'd /50.   I got 1 of these
Red Parallel sn'd 1/1.    None for me
I was hoping for a few more of these.

Inserts

Seasoned Veterans    I got 2

Big Ticket     I got 2

Ticket To Stardom   I got 5 of these

Now the 3 hits!

Michael Young game used jersey with authentic ticket stub 176/224
JJ Hardy dual game used jersey with authentic ticket stub084/228
Ubaldo Jimenez game used jersey auto130/489

I like the look of these but don't know about the ticket stubs They look way to clean to be used but who would want a card with a beer stained wrinkled torn up ticket stub in it. I think I do like them but hold the right to change my mind later on.

Over all I like the set but would like to hear what others have to say as I really haven't seen or heard anybody talk about it in Blogoland.

The relics are up for trade. I would love to get some Mets relics from this set but other stuff could get a deal done.

2004 Topps Pristine Pack Break

Hey all. Today I have my first ever pack of  Topps Pristine (2004 edition). Sure I have some cards from this set but never have I ripped a pack myself. I grabbed this one off E-bay to give it a shot. I do know about the pack inside the pack inside the pack thing so that makes 4 wrappers for 8 cards if you count the outside blister too. Here we go.

Layer one, blister pack. Peel it back and get this.

Layer two, the outer wrapper. Peel it back and get this.

An Erick Aybar uncirculated refractor #104 sn'd 748/999 and the middle layer wrapper.

A closer look at the Aybar. And the next layer is.....................

An Alex Rodreguez Key Aquisition game used bat relic #KA-AR and the last layer.

A closer look at the A-Rod bat relic. And the last layer is.................

Merkin Valdez #188 rc (Giants)
Omar Quintanilla # 165 rc (A's) sn'd 137/999
Jeff Kent #94 (Astros)
Kerry Wood #74 (Cubs)
Garret Anderson #32 (Angels)
Brian Giles #83 (Padres)

Over all I was thrilled with the A-rod bat card. It's my first of  him with the Yankees though I do have two jersey relics from his days with the Rangers. The rest of the cards are up for trade as none are Mets, Yankees, or players I collect so let me know if you are interested in any.

Card(s) Of The Day: I am hoarding these

Hello again Buffet readers. Today I have a Card of the Day post times 14.

2008 Topps Co-Signers Willie Collazo Auto

Willie Collazo had a short lived major league career with the Mets with 6 relief outings during the 2007 season with little success. Other wise a minor league carreer with the Braves drafting him in 2001 then a stint in the Angels farm system from 03-05 before the Mets signed him as a free agent in 2006. After becoming a free agent in 08 the Marlins had him in their minor league system and now in 2010 the Blue Jays have invited him to their spring training.

I am not sure how it happened but I have ended up with 14 of this career minor leagers autograph cards.

Topps must have thought he was going to break out in 08 and had hin sign a bunch of stickers for the Co-Signers series. Next thing you know he is back in the minors not to be heard from again yet I still search out his auto cards. I have four of the base autos, one of the gold sn'd 1/150, two green sn'd /200, three blue sn'd /300, two bronze sn'd /400, and two red sn'd /500 plus one more red on the way from an auction win. I know, yes I have a problem but I can't help myself. I must have all the Willie Collazo cards I can find. Please help me, anybody who has one contact me. I don't want to go on the streets and in the gutter looking for them. I don't discriminate, (is that spelled right?) I'll take any colors and count. I will keep your names secret, nobody has to know you have any. Thank you.
Sorry gang, these are not for trade, they are mine all mine.
