Tomahawk Chopping Chops Me Some Sweet Cards

Hello all. A little while back I was in a EEE group break over at Too Many Grandersons and met Derick during the live trading part of the festivities and we struck up a conversation on trading some stuff. It is always great to trade with a rival teams fan (Braves) since we both want to get rid of said rivals teams cards. Ironicly he had some players I collect and not Mets cards but that's fine too. He since posted some cards he got from some blasters he cracked and the Yankees looked real good to me so he sent along a great package of Yankess and Mets. I will feature just a few of the awesome Yankees he sent as they stole the show. (The Mets were great too)

First a few base.

Just a few of many great cards. Bernie Williams is one of my favorite Yankees from the recent past and the (baby face) Pettite minor league card is fun.
Then some shiny like cards popped up.
These are the first Bowman Platinum cards I have gotten and while they are not chrome, the shine almost as much. Some pretty good players too I must say. I had to sneak in one David Wright Mets card so this was a good one to do it with.
Next are the two cards I loved when he posted about them.

The Jeter Chrome Chicle 011/999 (curl and all) looks great and I have always said how much I like the manu patches. This one doesn't disappoint, Jeter from the 96 World series.
When I opened this package up I noticed the toploader with the manu patch was way to fat for it but it was full so what gives?
   Another card inside with it....

A Whitey Ford 53 World Series manu patch, I love it! It's so cool since over the last couple of months I have been expanding my old school Yankees collection and even moved all my pre 1970 players to there own binder and Whitey Ford has been a favorite in that group for me. This patch design is great even though it looks like the Topps employee who glued it down must have been in a rush to go home or something. It still rocks regardless.

Thanks for a great package Derek, yours is on the way shortly.

I mentioned earlier how I met Derek at Dennis's of  Too Many Grandersons group break of  EEE. We are both also in his next break of 2008 Razor Letterman tomorrow and you can be also. There is still time to join until midnight tonight and 5 hits are guaranteed so go on over and jump in. The break will also be web cast live so we all can see it together.

That's all I have for now so keep rockin those cardboard dreams!

Anybody Like Razor Letterman? Anybody Like Guaranteed Autos?

Anybody like letter patch cards? Anybody like autos? Anybody want 5 guaranteed hits? If you answered yes to any of these you need to jump into Too Many Grandersons 2008 Razor Letterman group break.  The checklist is HERE. Trust me when I say Dennis runs a great break. It will be streamed live as well and he keeps everybody up to date every step of the way so check it out, you won't be disappointed.

You may have a shot at one of these.

Some New Additions in Red White, and Blue While Milestones Approach

Hello all. Today I have a few new additions to the American flag cards collection to show off. The Bowman Chrome in the middle is my favorite of bunch and looks great in person. I wish the chromes would photograph better.

These three come from the 1991 Pro Set Desert Storm set. Wow, 20 years old now.
These cards complete page four and start page number five in the binder. Not bad for a collection I began only a few months ago.

In other happenings around here at BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet, some milestones are coming up. February 3rd is the one year anniversary  and 20,000 hits are approaching also. I don't know what will hit first (probably the anniversary) but it would be way cool if it was the same day. I will have to figure out some kind of fun to celebrate the occasions. 7 more followers will get me to the century mark as well.  I also am in the planning stages of hosting the first group break here and think it should be fun. It will be a lower priced adventure with 2 or 3 different boxes and a bunch of loose packs I have been stocking up for several months. I think the variety will make for a very interesting break.

That's all I have for now. Keep rocking your cardboard dreams!

A Quick E-Bay Score, Anybody Like the Redskins?

Hey all. A quick hit today on an E-Bay score. I am a big Daniel Murphy fan and am sorry to see injuries take away his chance to make it with the Mets. With  his lack of skills in the outfield and the emergence of Ike Davis he has become an afterthought in the Mets plans. Hopefully next season he finds a spot and makes it back to the big club roster. The one positive for me is that you can find his cards much cheaper now then this time last year so I found this beauty for a song.

2008 Bowman Sign of the Times Auto

The seller also had a great combined shipping deal but I didn't see any other cards I really wanted. I grabbed these two Devin Thomas autos on the cheap because I can't pass up a bargain on shipping and I figure maybe somebody may want to trade for them. He played for the Giants this past season after a stop in Carolina earlier mid season. He was with the Redskins in 08, 09 and 4 games in early 10. Check them out and make an offer folks.

There's another big snow storm forecast for tonight here in NYC. (It has begun snowing as I write this post) I better be able to get to work tomorrow after I lost two days last time because the sanitation couldn't get there head out of their ass and plow my street for 3 days. See my rant HERE. I hope to report back with better results this time.
Keep rocking those cardboard dreams people!

Card(s) Of The Day

Hey all. Today I bring back the "Card of the Day" post. It's been a while and I found this while looking for something so I figured why not. This card of the day is actually 9 cards in one sheet so does that make it one big card?
Farmland Dairy's NY Mets
Darryl Strawberry, Howard Johnson, Sid Fernandez, Keith Hernandez, Dwight Gooden, Kevin Elster, Randy Meyers, Gary Carter, and Roger McDowell

Nine Stars from the 88 team. Below are closer pictures of each row of cards. You can see the perforations where the cards are to be separated.

The backs are standard fare with player info, 87 stats for each player along with a list of 87 highlights pertaining to the player as well. There are also 2 logos, a Mets Jr. logo and a Farmland Dairy logo.

Here's a closer look at a couple of the backs.
I picked a couple of these up at the "other" card shop I go to once in awhile when I am working in the area. I will keep one whole and separate the other to add the cards to the Mets player collections. I know that they also made these in 87 and 89 but have yet to see them.
Check out The Pack Rip Cafe where I try to unearth some hidden treasures. Go see if I had any luck.

A Trade Spurned From a Poem and the Last of a COMC Score.

Hey again all. Today I show off some cards from two different acquisitions. I finally have the last part of my COMC score from a couple of months back but first I have some trade booty from Steve over at White Sox Cards. It's funny that his was one of the first blogs I discovered when I started BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet back in February of last year and I just now completed a trade with him. It started when he posted about a Nick Swisher Yankee relic card he got in the form of a poem. After reading it I commented with a much lamer poem and the trade was on. A Jermaine Dye bat card along with some other White Sox stuff escaped New York just before the blizzard hit last weekend and in return these superb cards showed up in my mailbox today.

  The card that started it.

2010 Topps Peak Performance jersey relic

Then a nice variety of surprise cards from several eras.

And my favorite of the surprise cards....
Hisanori Takahashi Orange Refractor RC

Thanks for a fun trade Steve, keep the poems coming.

Now the end of a Check Out My Cards score from a couple of months back, the game used scores.

Three new Piazza relics. This brings my total over 110 Mike Piazza relic cards and over 95 are Mets.

A Doc Gooden and a couple Kaz Matsui's. While Matsui's time here was a bust, they made a load of game used cards for his time with the Mets and they are usually quite cheap so I have ended up with a bunch of them.

My Dontrelle gu collection grows by three with these.

And a Curtis Martin with a double dose of  Deuce McCallister jerseys. I actually forgot that I already had the Martin so if anybody needs it, shoot me an offer.

There it is, the end of a great COMC package and just in time since I just got a another one this week.

Check out The Pack Rip Cafe for some rookie and prospect fun with a rack pack of 2010 Bowman.
That's all I have for now. Keep rockin your cardboard dreams people!

Turning Over a New Leaf With My First Trade Post of 2011, and Another Contest Plug.

Hello all. Today I come to you with my first trade post of 2011. I first and foremost must apologize for my lack of trade posts from the many awesome trades I made with so many tremendous bloggers out there during the last few months of 2010. It became much busier around here then I expected and my being unorganized really slowed me down blog wise. I consider myself a fair trader but when it came to posting them I really sucked and for that I am sorry. I love each and every trade I have made with all of you out there and don't want my lack of trade posts to reflect any negative feelings about any part of any of them. With that I am turning over a new leaf and promise to begin anew in 2011 and get back to properly thanking all you generous traders I have the pleasure to trade with.
With that being said I have the first opportunity with a package I receive from Rhubarb Runner over at “é rayhahn, rayhahn” He's a great trader and it usually goes very easy to work out a trade with him. If you got Twins, he has interest and this one was no different. He posted some Mets trade bait and he baited me in for a great trade. I sent some Twins stuff he wanted and in return these beauties showed up.

Five 2009 and one 2008 Golden goodies /2009 and /2008 respectively along with a 2009 Omir Santos RC Black bordered /58. On the bottom left you can see a 2002 Topps Post Mike Piazza and a Black Bordered 2009 O-Pee-Chee Carlos Beltran.

As you can see the Piazza is # 4 of 30 and has a Post logo on the bottom. I assume that it was part of some promo set post released in  02 but I haven't done any research so I leave it up to you readers to fill me in with some info on it. (UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF POST) I would tell you the number on the Beltran except it's a blank back error card. I love the error cards and this one is no exception. I have seen quite a few from the 80's and even own a couple but I haven't seen any in any recent years sets so I am not sure how rare this one is.

  Next up some hits.
A 2002 Topps Chrome Top of the Order Benny Agbayani gu jersey and a 2010 Topps Chrome Jerry Marte auto. Coincidentally Madding over on Card on Cards speculated that this blog may be named after Benny Agbayani and then this card shows up. I will state for the record that is not the case but a funny observation I must say.

These two 2009 Upper Deck jersey cards of John Maine and Billy Wagner were intriguing to me due too the black jersey color. I already have one of the John Maine cards (pictured below with the new one) but as you can see, different colored swatches. A quick E-Bay search shows several black Wagner's but only one Maine.

There you have it, a fun package courtesy of  Rhubarb Runner.

On a different note, the man known as Wicked Ortega is having another contest over on My Past Time……. I Love It!!. As always he goes big and has a great prize so check it out. This is the second contest he is running this week as he is on a very generous streak and I can attest to that as I won his first contest this week. Yea for me!
That's all I have for now. Keep rockin your cardboard dreams people!

UPDATE: Mark from Mark's Ephemera sent me this info on the 2002 Post set.
