Congrats To David Wright!

Hello all. A Mets milestone was reached last night as David Wright became the all time NY Mets hit leader. He passed Mets legend Ed Kranepool who finished with 1418 hits in a Metropolitan's uniform while David Wright is now at 1422 after today's day game where he hit a 3 run homer to reach that number.

Mr. Kranepool played all 18 of his major league seasons with NY and still leads in several categories in team history.

Games played ~ 1853 (More then 500 above Bud Harrelson's 1322 and Wright's 1257 in third place.
At Bats ~ 5436 (Wright second at 4725)
Runs scored on a tag up ~ 58 (Tied with Wright)
Plate Appearances  5997 ~ (Wright second at 5433)

He is also second in a couple of categories including doubles (Wright first), and total bases (Wright first).

It's a great coincidence that I met both players on the same day and had them sign the same ball. I did a post about that day HERE.

Now let's see what other categories Mr. Wright leads besides hits, doubles, and total bases now.

Runs scored ~ 789 (Reyes second at 735, Kranepool ninth at 536)
RBI's ~ 816 (Strawberry second at 733, Kranepool fifth at 614)
Walks ~ 614 (Strawberry second at 580, Kranepool eighth at 454)
Runs scored on a tag up ~ 58 (Tied with Kranepool)
Extra base hits 544 ~ (Strawberry second at 469 (Kranepool seventh at 368)

He's also second and third in a few other categories.

If the Mets do the right thing and sign him to another long term deal David wright will lead all time in most of the Mets offensive categories by far.

Congrats to David Wright on this Mets Milestone.

That's all for now. Keep rocking your cardboard dreams!

Worth A Listen- Where Is Goodell?

Hello all. While the NFL lockout of officials has become a national story and made the games almost a joke in my opinion one must ask the question "Where is Roger Goodell, the commissioner?" My local sports morning show featuring Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton sum it up very well. Check it out HERE. It's about ten minutes and Craig gets a little nuts but the point is right on.

Benny-Bay Vol. 2

Hello all. I am back with another  auction style trade bait post calling it Benny-Bay. (If you have a better name let me know) Here is how it works:

I will put up a card or cards for trade and you can bid on them with cards of your own to trade. After a predetermined time I will accept the "best" offer and the cards go to the winner. Now book value does not have to be a factor, it's the offer I like best that will win. Obviously you know what I like so those types of offers will carry more weight. While I am not looking for money as offers but I would certainly have to consider a cash offer if you were to make one. I really am looking for a new fun way to trade. Depending on the cards I am offering I may or may not have a "reserve" on the auctions. I don't want to trade a decent relic or auto for a 1990 Donruss Julio Machado that I already have a dozen of. Once I set a bid as a leader the reserve has been met and the auction is on. If it is a "no reserve" auction then the first bid sets the bar and we go from there. I will make it clear as to any reserve level on a particular card or cards I put up. You can make bids in the comments section of the post and I will keep updating as to which offer is in the lead as the auction progresses. You can bid as often as you like and can add to a bid or change it as you wish. Tell your friends and let's have some fun with this.

This auction is starting now and it will run until Tuesday 9/25 around 9:00 pm Eastern time. Here are the cards up for grabs.

2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces #CC-PA Jonathan Papelbon
2012 Allen & Ginter Historical Turning Points #'s 1 and 13

This will be a low reserve auction so get to bidding gang. Any questions feel free to ask.

Patch Card Of The Day!

Hello all. I've been crazy busy with work and doctors appointment with my wife who has recently diagnosed with MS and a weekend trip to Pennsylvania to visit family from 3 different states in for a visit has had me away from the blog for a bit but I have a small window here for a fast "Patch Card of the day".

2011 Topps Marquee Ike Davis Auto / Patch / Jersey 59/70

This is a real nice Ike Davis patch with an auto and additional jersey swatch to boot. I liked the Marquee product but didn't buy much since Topps totally over priced it.

Are You Ready For Some Football !

Hello all. I've got 6 words for you. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?! That's right, the NFL season begins tonight. Cowboys at Giants is a marquee match up and a good choice for the opener. I like the idea that the NFL adopted a few years back where the Superbowl Champion gets to be the first and only game on opening night. It wouldn't be a sports card buffet if I didn't show some cards now would it so here we are. I will lead with my third favorite team, the defending champions, the New York Football Giants. I am not sure about the rest of the country but here in NYC the Giants don't get the respect they deserve, 2 Superbowl's in 5 years is quite an accomplishment but still no respect. Only a 3 1/2 point favorite at home against a Dallas team most likely without Jason Witten is truly an insult. Now as a Jets fan I am not thrilled with the last few years from the management side and loud mouth coach with no real accomplishments and that has caused a shift in the media coverage here as well. Now it's all about what stupid thing the Jets coach said or what stupid move the front office has made for the sake of headlines (Tebow, etc.) and the Giants get forgotten about. Now I am a life long Jets fan and root hard for them when they play against the Giants but it still isn't right, the Giants deserve a lot more respect then they get around here. On to the cards.

A trio of Eli Manning's! He has definitely become one of the elite QB's in the league. Saturday Night Live just re aired his show from back in May this week. He was hilarious.

Some more guys who should make some noise tonight. Nicks, Kiwanuka, and Jernigan. (sweet patch)

Now I can't post football cards without a few from my 2 favorite teams.

D'Brick, Sanchez, and Green are 3 critical players to the Jets success or failures this season.

It should be interesting to see how the Saints handle all the off season turmoil this year. These three cogs in their offense hopefully come through. Brees, Graham, and Colston.

I can say for sure that I am ready for some football. I think most Mets fans are. Now it's your turn.....

Are YOU Ready for some football?!

Do You Like Metal? I Do! Contest Prize Additions Also.

Hello all.  Are you a fan of metal?

No, not that kind of metal, this kind of metal

While I love Heavy Metal music this post is in reference to the prize I won from Kirk over at Eutaw Street Cardboard. He gave a way several great prizes and this Metallic Impressions Cal Ripken 10 card set was mine.
Sn'd 08004 of 29,950 sets

A great storage tin to house the cards.

Each metal card represents a key moment or milestone in Cal's career.

Ending of course with his consecutive games played record.

This is a great set, it will look great next to the similar metallic Mantle set I have. Thanks Kirk for a great prize, I love it!

I have added some more cards to my contest prize. Details HERE.

Head on over to enter and spread the word.
